After how many years of peeling thread did I finally realize that I could also peel yarn? I revived this project in Feb 2015 because the blanket was just going to be too big (the only place to store it would be between the mattresses), and there is no way I'm going to finish it in any reasonable period of time. I took it apart, peeled a few mini-skeins, and started knitting again with a 2.75 mm circular. Now it is nearly the width of a full-size bed, and will hopefully end up the size of a baby blanket.
(2012) This is the first picture-blanket to incorporate multicolored yarn--and I'm not regretting it! I almost went with the two extra shades of purple, but then I realized that it would be too plain and purple...and then I almost went with individual colors in the portals, and realized that it would be WAY too much work and I'm not up to the challenge right now. Unfortunately I didn't find the perfect multicolored so I'm making do with what I have. It uses either 6 or 9 colors; I used 6 because of the multicolored yarn :)
It's 280 stitches wide, and I was originally using 5.5mm needles to make it cover a full-sized bed.
